The Republic Of Bulgaria - Distinct Historical Past, Stunning Natural Features
Bulgaria is a European country where Eastern and Western European influences are always infusing. Picturesque and beautiful, Bulgaria is located in Southeastern Europe on the Balkan Peninsula. With so much history under its belt, Bulgaria has grown as a very unique country, and there is no shortage of things to do and see. If you are thinking of taking a vacation, consider visiting Bulgaria. Just remember that when you travel outside the United States that you will need a passport. The Ivanovo Rock Churches are a similar sort of historical site. These buildings are of different varieties - chapels, monasteries, and churches - are they are all carved out of solid stone. Buildings of this sort are found nowhere else in Bulgaria, and they are famous for the still very clear Medieval frescoes that are on the walls. Monks lived in these buildings as early as 1220, and there are many buildings on the complex to explore.
Another UNESCO World Heritage Site is Pirin National Park. As you probably can guess, this is one of the locations that is honored for its environmental significance. There are a huge number of different species of plants here that are located on 2 separate reserves. In fact, there are 1300 different types of plants which represent 30% of all the plants found in Bulgaria! However, not only are there a lot of different types of plants, but most are endemic to this region. This means that they are not found anywhere else on earth. Pirin is certainly not short on animal life either. There are 45 species of mammals representing 50% of the animals in the whole country!
With so much natural, historical, and archaeological places to explore and see, you will never be short of things to do in Bulgaria. Mostly free from the industrialization of Western Europe, this country is full of things that can really show you the spirit of Bulgaria. Just remember that you will need a passport.
