Die Cutter
Not Everyone Was Born to Be A Public Speaking Professional
I was having a look at a list of phobias and some surprised me, and there was one thing that bowled me over. I kind of couldn't believe it when I read it. It claimed that the majority of folks would rather die than speak in public. Folks with fears of public speaking would prefer to die than do it? I do not know about you but that's just dazzling to me.
It's really an oxymoron because if you consider it for a moment, we all literally speak in public all the time. We all talk with small groups of folk we all know, like at a family dinner or a cookout. Some more outward than others and some more refined but we can do it. I'm wondering if its all about being judged or if the person had an awful experience once before. Irrespective of the reason, it's something that this is like the #1 fear and folk would prefer to die.
I know someone who told to me that they had this issue. He's a coach and annually when he had to talk to the children and their mom and dad at a annual banquet, almost everyone he already knew, he revealed he would just contemplate it and get scared. When it would be time to get up to the podium he would sweat and feel weak. And even though he believed that it was okay to do something within him held him back.
I can't conceive of this and perhaps that's why it is so strange to me. I've just about always wanted to answer a question in class, be in the high school play, and even in the 1st grade and had no problem playing my banjo in front of folk. I actually enjoy it and never feel nervous. I do not know why, just like folks who can't do it do not know why, I am able to and have no idea why.
Not long ago when my basketball coach friend shared this with me I asked, did you ever do something about it? He announced he went to meetings to be able to talk in public but he said that was like not knowing the right way to swim and being tossed in the pond off the back of the ship. They told you get up in front of folk and talk, which was the problem in the 1st place. It didn't work for him.
He also said to me that he thought back as much as he could to school, you know...being younger, all parts of his past he could recall and he does not recall any experience when it might have begun. He was not the most social kid at college, so he says, but he wasn't shy and in the corner either. Just standard as he calls it. Appears peculiar to me but then again lots of things seem peculiar to me.
Now that I know folk rather die than talk in public, well not all folks, but those with this fear, I wonder really why that is. Heck, we all talk to each other and wit's not like we are alone when we do. So what's the deal once we talk to folk and share what we are thinking? Now I'd really like to to understand.

I have a lot of brass dry embossing templets. Looking for a die cutter & embossing machine.?
I want to be able to use what I have, so I don't have to replace all of my templets. Anyone have any ideas?
I don't have any suggestions for cutting shapes economically other than using a craft knife and a cutting mat, but a friend of mine has been successfully dry embossing using her old pasta machine!
You could experiment with a cheap pasta machine (I got mine for $5 at a sale) and see if you get the effect you want with it? You just run your paper and embossing folders through the machine.
Here's some other ways to dry emboss without using a machine but still using a brass template (the instructions are at the bottom of the page):
