One of my favorite birthday presents i've gotten was a sketchbook (i'm into art) that my friend covered in photos and pictures cut out from magazines. I thought it was really simple but shows she put time, thought and effort into the present and the sketchbook made me feel like she knew me.
I guess you could do something similar for her?
Like, if she's into music or movies you could do it with a cd or dvd folder, and if she likes reading you could do a bookmark. Its pretty simple, but i really liked mine.
